We have had reports of people calling door to door in residential areas selling household items and cleaning products etc, we would like to remind residents to remain vigilant when dealing with cold callers. If someone calls at your door wishing to sell something or promote a business or charity, you are under no obligation to buy or to even open the door and you should never invite someone selling or collecting door to door into your house. Anyone selling door to door should have a licence, which is not just a badge with or without photo. If you have cold callers refusing to leave when asked, or you feel pressurised to purchase goods, the police should be called on 999 if necessary. If you see something suspicious, you are not happy about someone you have seen in your area, or you are concerned for a neighbour then please call us on 101 or make contact via the Devon & Cornwall police website. Use 999 if urgent or you think a crime is being committed.
