We’ve all watched TV series and films with detectives grilling suspects to work out whodunit, and we’re currently the feature force in Channel 5’s latest Suspect No1, but now the applications have reopened to join us as a detective or police constable, we’ve turned the tables and put our teams on the other side of the interview to give you a real insight into what it’s like on the inside. Let’s duck under the police tape to ask the officers and detectives about their work. From catching burglars, robbers, and thieves to targeting organised crime groups, our Criminal Investigation Department (CID) teams are the ones stopping those who cause significant harm to our communities in their tracks. CID is also home to our dedicated Domestic Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding teams (we call them DASIT), which has been created specifically to support and safeguard victims of domestic abuse, and any children involved by providing them the best possible service and care. As part of our ongoing work with victims, we also target the offenders of these crimes, putting preventative and disruptive measures in place to stop re-offending and ultimately protect the public.
