Fatal 4 Operation Alert!

Today, you may have seen us in the heart of Castle Donington, tackling road traffic offences. 
The team, a mixture of Beat Officers, Response Colleagues and our Roads Policing Unit targeted the main four offences that often lead to serious road collisions. These include: 

-Driving in excess of the speed limit. 
-Driving under the influence of drink or drugs. 
-Failing to wear a seatbelt. 
-Using a mobile phone whilst driving. 

From 0900hrs until 1300hrs we identified 5 drivers who failed to wear a seatbelt, 4 drivers that thought it was okay to use a mobile phone whilst driving, 1 section 59 due to the drivers exhaust backfiring, 1 prohibition due to the load that they were carrying and completed 3 spot checks on vehicles that were carrying children to ensure the child seat was secure and fastened correctly. All drivers committing offences were dealt with by means of a traffic offence report. We are pleased to state that no vehicles were speeding and the drivers that we stopped were not under the influence

These dangerous actions significantly increase the risk of fatalities and serious injuries on our roads. Let's all do our part to drive safely and protect our communities. Remember, every decision behind the wheel matters.
