Officers investigating the assault of a man in Southampton are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It was reported that at approximately 3.15pm last Wednesday (26 March) a man was assaulted by two men on Northlands Road.
The men were wearing balaclavas and one was wearing a black tracksuit, black coat and black trainers, while the other was in a grey tracksuit and white trainers. So far, we know that both men were of stocky build and the man in the black tracksuit was around 6ft tall.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and face. He was treated and has since been discharged.
Since this incident was reported to us we have been carrying out a number of enquiries in order to determine the circumstances of the assault and identify those responsible. This includes CCTV enquiries, speaking to witnesses at the scene and house to house visits.
We believe that the area was busy at the time of the assault and that there are a number of witnesses in vehicles who may have seen what happened and have not yet spoken to us.
We are appealing to those people to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from a woman in a black car, described as a Nissan Juke, who we believe beeped her horn repeatedly to help stop the assault.
Were you in the Northlands Road area at around 3.15pm last Wednesday (26 March)? Did you see a man being assaulted and have not yet spoken to police? Perhaps you were driving through the area and have dash cam footage that may have captured something?
Anyone with any information, no matter how small it may seem, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting the reference 44250132021.
