Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team.

Dear Members,

Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team.

What’s been happening:

  • AOB: Our teams have been exceptionally busy with supporting various departments and going through their investigations over the last week. However, the team were also able to arrest 2 offenders involved in a Robbery on 03/03/25, just after this was reported to us. Both males currently remain in custody for questioning. We are currently looking into various operations to conduct through the coming months. Some things currently planned in are us working with our dogs and Off-road bikers.
  • Business Watch: This took place for Yew Tree Members. Discussions highlighted the positives and the negatives that is currently impacting businesses and the local community. Reports about parking at the Yew Tree on the Zig zags appears to be a common issue that everyone is having concerns around. The furniture around the Yew Tree we are currently looking at to see what can be removed or replaced to stop Any Antisocial behaviour or loitering. The Swan Shopping Centre is due to have theirs in the coming week. Our Offender 2 rehab team will also be attending these meetings and we have many signed up on the scheme to support with their addictions.
  • We have also planned in some Speedwatch operations for the coming months to reduce the ASB driving and speeding on our roads in the area. Please continue to send in your reports to Operation Snap should you have anything of this nature and have recorded this upon CCTV/Dashcam. • Empowered Steps: This took place on the 23rd March at 10:00. We had one in attendance. We had a detailed discussion around different topics and concerns they are feeling, on top of what the community is also feeling. The next one has been scheduled for the 17th April at 10:30 at Oaklands Recreational Ground. Meeting point is on the pathway behind the skatepark. We want to hear your concerns and be able to provide this safe space for you.
