Crime Alert - Attempt Theft from a Vehicle

Dear Resident,

Humberside Police are investigating a report of an attempt theft from a car from Bramble Close, Grimsby.

The incident occurred at 02:55am on 04/04/2025. The offender approached a parked and unattended vehicle on the roadside and tried the door handles of the vehicle, but the vehicle was locked and secure and no entry was gained. There has been a recent increase in this type of crime on the neighbouring Park ward and Yarborough ward areas. In some of these incidents entry has been gained to some vehicles (due to them being unlocked) and items of value have been stolen from within.

If you have any CCTV footage (including video doorbell), saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time or have any information about the offenders please contact the police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting occurrence ref: 25*45094.

Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

To reduce the risk of your vehicle being broken into, please read through the below advice -

  • Keep the vehicle locked at all times, and ensure you double lock it.
  • Make sure that your vehicle alarm is set.
  • Do not leave any valuables or "interesting" items on display
  • Don't leave tools in a van over night.
  • If possible park your vehicle on a drive or as close to your home as possible.
  • When away from Home Park in a busy, well overlooked area. If the car will be there after dark try to find somewhere illuminated

  • Please also find attached the Police Crime Prevention Handbook which covers a broad range of crime prevention advice.

    Thank you
