Attachments
A man has been jailed for four years after he attacked a woman with a knife in North Staffordshire. Shane Richards, 39, from Leek, broke into the victim’s home on Friday 21 September 2024 and punched her repeatedly before cutting her with a large kitchen knife. A concerned neighbour called us and officers swiftly went to the scene where they located and arrested Richards. Officers also found a large kitchen knife on the floor which was seized. After being charged and taken to court, Richards pleaded guilty to Section 18 – wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place on 28 October 2024. He was sentenced to four years behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (28 March). PC Stacie White from our Staffordshire Moorlands local policing team said: “This was a vicious attack which will no doubt have a lasting effect on the victim. “I hope this conviction shows that we are passionate about protecting the community and taking action against those who commit violence, abuse and intimidation. “If you have been a victim of abuse and want to get in touch with our specially-trained officers, call 101 or use LiveChat on our website”. | ||||
