Apologies, I put the incorrect month in my earlier alert. It's been a long day lacking in caffeine.

On Friday 4th April at around 23:30 officers on patrol in Tamworth Town Centre have spotted a blue BMW parked on George Street, Tamworth with a male sat in the driver's seat.

The officers have conducted a stop search and found a weapon and drugs inside the vehicle.

A machete was located in the rear passenger footwell and cannabis found in a tube on the front seat. In addition to this, a single golf club and a hammer were found in the boot of the vehicle.

The 26 year old male, from Tamworth, was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession of a controlled drug of class B and breach of bail conditions.

He remains in custody at this time.
