Monthly update

Dear residents,

We hope you are all doing well and enjoying your week.

We wanted to provide you an update regarding what we have been up to recently in your areas.

Over the past two weeks we have arrested 7 people on suspicion of theft. These arrests relate to thefts within the town centre. One male, a prolific thief, was charged and convicted and sentenced to 30 weeks in prison. This is a great result considering the high value thefts he had been committing. Another two males were arrested, charged and remanded and we await their sentencing in the coming weeks.

As well as arresting for theft, we also have the power to deal with certain thefts through out of court disposals. Over the past two weeks we have issued three of these disposals. The aim is to stop further offending at the earliest opportunity.

We assisted our response colleagues in relation to a high risk missing person in the area. Through our enquiries and high visibility in the area we were able to locate the male and confirm that he was safe and well.

As the weather is getting nicer we are seeing more people on e-scooters within the town. E-scooters can only be used on private land therefore we are stopping and educating riders where we can and if they continue to ride in a public place, we will take robust action. If you have any queries around e-scooters please do let us know.

Tunbridge Wells Town Centre is an alcohol control zone with a public space protection order. This prohibits the drinking of alcohol where ASB issues have arisen. Where we see drinking occurring in this area, we are actively seizing and disposing of alcohol in order to prevent further issues. As we come into the summer months we will continue to proactively enforce this.

We hope you have a good week.
