Mavesyn Ridware Concerns

Dear All

Recently local officers for the village have been contacted regarding issues relating to Anti-social behaviour, Public Order, Dogs out of control at a banned location & Criminal Damage.  An incident has been reported to Lichfield Police and an officer has been assigned to tackle the issue.

With this in mind I have listed below the legislation relating to the above for your information and awareness:

Anti-social behaviour Act 2003 - behaviour is defined as a course of conduct that has caused or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to any person.

Using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour (or displaying such things) that are likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress is an offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

The Criminal Damage Act 1971 defines someone who causes criminal damage as ‘A person who, without lawful excuse, destroys or damages any property belonging to another, intending to destroy or damage any such property, or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged’.

And key points of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (Section 3) It is a criminal offence for the owner or a person in charge of a dog to allow it to be “dangerously out of control” in any place.  “Dangerously out of control” - This means the dog causes a person to reasonably fear they might be injured, even if the dog doesn't actually bite or injure anyone.  The Act applies to all dog breeds, not just specific ones.

Local officers will be attending the village and conducting routine patrols. Should any resident need to bring any incidents to our attention, we will be more that accommodating to offer advice , reassurance for the appropriate direction.  We have a provisional date booked for a village police surgery on  Tuesday 24th June 15:15 - 17:00hrs at the village hall - I will confirm nearer the time.

You may contact Lichfield Police for non-urgent incidents on 101 or via our website www.staffordshire.police.uk  & Facebook.

Thank you
