Good afternoon!
If you were enjoying a drink in one of our wonderful licensed premises on Friday night, you may have seen us out and about.
Officers from Hart & Rushmoor attended a number of pubs in the area alongside officers from our Dog Section who assisted with their drugs dogs to ensure our pubs and bars are drug free.
We visited The Prince of Wales, Emporium, The Wyvern and KARA in Fleet, and The White Lion in Yateley, where our dogs Atlas and Major took a walk with their handlers Sergeant Lath and PC Bartle.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is committed to tackling violence against women and girls, and we know that drugs that are used to facilitate this. That’s why we take the time to target those using drugs against vulnerable people in our society, and visits to our nightlife is just one way to keep women and girls safe.
Across the evening we searched seven people after indications by a drugs dog. Two of these searches were positive of which one was dealt with by Community Resolution at the time of the search, and a second will be progressed after interview.
Sergeant Geoff Hill of Hart Neighbourhoods said “This hopefully shows the public that drug use will not be tolerated on our licensed premises, and we will continue to carry out this operation over summer ensuring our nightlife remains safe and drug free.”
Stay safe,
PC 27999 Ben Blundell, Local Bobby for Yateley, Blackwater and Hawley.
