How to make a Silent 999 Call

Dear Residents,

If you needed to call the police because you were scared for your safety โ€“ so scared that you were unable to actually speak โ€“ do you know how to let the police know that you need help?

If youโ€™re in danger but it isnโ€™t safe to speak, you can make a silent 999 call.

Call 999 and try to speak to the operator if you can, even by whispering. You may also be asked to cough or tap the keys on your phone to answer questions.

If you canโ€™t speak or answer questions, dialing 55 lets the operator know your call is genuine and they will try to track your location ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ“ฑ If you canโ€™t speak, listen carefully to the questions and instructions from the call handler so they can assess your situation and arrange help.
