About us

We are a team of Dedicated Neighbourhood Officers and Police Community Support Officers who’s role is to deal with local/community issues across the beat area. We work closely with local partners to find long term problem solving and deliver on community priorities.

We as a team set our Community Priorities every 3 months, Those Priorities are identified as local concerns, through feedback from Neighbourhood Link Surveys, Beat Surgeries and engaging with local partners.

The Role of your Dedicated Neighbourhood Beat team differs from that of our Response Policing Officers who attend a wide variety of incidents across the whole of Charnwood and complete the initial recording and investigation of crime.

Our current community priorities are :

  • Drug Dealing
  • Road Safety (Speeding)
  • Shoplifting
  •

    Actions taken

  • Drug Dealing – The team have been engaging with the local community gathering intelligence on drug activity around the beat, That intelligence has been valuable in allowing officers to successfully apply for warrants to gain entry into a number of addresses, During the last month 5 warrants have been executed across the beat, with several individuals having been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs. We would welcome any further information the community may have in relation to drug dealing, in order for us to conduct further robust action.
  •

  • Road Safety – You may be aware that the Road Safety Partnership Speed Camera Van periodically utilise sites across our beat area to enforce prescribed speed limits of roads. In addition to their work the beat team have been out in specific sites of concern with our hand held speed guns raising awareness around speeding.
  •

  • Shoplifting – We are aware that stores across our beat area may not always report the full extent of thefts that they are experiencing, and so the team have been engaging with stores to encourage the reporting of all incidents of theft, and to provide CCTV footage of the offences in a timely manner. The team have also been conducting regular reassurance patrols for staff and providing that visual deterrent to shoplifters.
