🚨 Operation Spotlight Day 4🚨

🚨 Operation Spotlight Day 4🚨

The Ellesmere SNT team have been out this afternoon conducting a drink drive operation in Ellesmere town, this operation was conducted due to a rise in concerns from local residents about individuals suspected of drink driving, and as part of the national Operation Spotlight campaign.

PCSO's Tracey Walker and Kerry Hogg directed traffic from Cross Street into the Sparbridge car park where PC Ant Evans spoke with the drivers and completed breathalyser tests.
There were a total of 32 vehicles checked , a majority of drivers blew 0 and a select few all blew below 20, which was a great result, Vehicles were also checked and were all in fully insured, taxed and MOT'D.

There are strict alcohol limits for drivers, but it’s impossible to say exactly how many drinks this equals or how long the alcohol will take to leave your system - it’s different for each person.

The limits within England are 35 Micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath

There are strict drink driving penalties if you are caught over the limit and you cannot drive anywhere in the UK if you’ve been banned by any UK court because of drink driving.

The way alcohol affects you can depend on:

your weight, age, sex and metabolism (the rate your body uses energy)
the type and amount of alcohol you’re drinking
what you’ve eaten recently
your stress levels at the time

It is always best to avoid alcohol altogether if you plan on driving. 🚫 🪘 🙅‍♂️

The SNT team will look to conduct more of these operations throughout the summer and will complete these alongside the ongoing speed enforcement they currently carry out. Traffic offences will not be tolerated within Ellesmere and surrounding areas.

Lets all work together to make our roads a safer place 🚓
