Operation Spotlight

This week has seen Operation Spotlight, which is a national campaign aimed at the fatal four of road safety… Speeding, Drink driving, use of mobile phones and not wearing a seatbelt.

Monday and Tuesday saw PC 20424 from Oswestry Rural North assist Ellesmere PCSO's Kerry Hogg and Tracey Walker with speed enforcement within the local area.

This enforcement was conducted using a TruCam, there were a total of 296 vehicles were checked in areas such as Dudleston Heath, Grange Road in Ellesmere and Baschurch. 

Of these vehicles disappointingly 14 were in excess and will now receive correspondence from West Mercia police, the outcomes these drivers will receive will depends on the recorded speed and whether the driver has any prior driving offences. 

The Ellesmere SNT Team aim to continue completing further enforcement alongside the speed surveys they currently conduct and will try to get locations where concerns have been officially raised.
