Male Charged with 15 Offences in Relation to Theft from Motor Vehicles in Halliwell

Good Afternoon,

Earlier this week, on Wednesday 9th April, officers arrested a 37-year-old male on suspicion of a number of theft, fraud and handling stolen goods offences after a spate of thefts from motor vehicles in the Halliwell area between 30th March and 8th April. The male was charged with 15 offences after an investigation by the Halliwell Neighbourhood Team and he was remanded to appear at court the following day. He has since been remanded into custody.

We would like to take this as an opportunity to remind you to ensure your vehicles are locked and to take an extra moment to double check that your vehicles are secure. Do not leave anything valuable inside your vehicles and do not leave anything on show. The Halliwell Neighbourhood Team have also had information to suggest that there are other suspects involved in the theft of items from motor vehicles, in particular wallets/purses, and bank cards which are then being used inside shops in the Halliwell area. It is recommended that purses/bank cards/cash are not left inside vehicles, especially if the bank cards have the option of a contactless payment method.

Anyone with any information is asked to report this online at Report | Greater Manchester Police or by calling 101.
