Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team.

Dear Members,

Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team.

What’s been happening:

  • Easter is only around the corner and we want to wish all of our community celebrating through this time, a wonderful, peaceful and rewarding lent. God bless all. This also means half term for all students of all ages, many spend there time with family, going on holiday or days out, what ever it is you have planned may it be fun and as always be safe. May you all enjoy the yummy easter eggs!

  • AOB: It has been announced of the new increase of officers being recruited for WMP which is great news for neighbourhood. With this being said, we are also due for a restructure on Neighbourhood. Once all details have been obtained around this, everyone will be informed of any changes.

  • Business Watch has now been conducted for the Yew Tree and Swan Shopping Centre. We will be continuing these going forward and at the moment it is agreed these take place every 2 months with business owners. Some business owners on the Coventry road will also be invited to attend as an extension of the area and issues. Business owners expressed both positives and negatives on the area of the ongoing concerns. We are working on those areas that need to be improved and we will continue to maintain any of the positives. In these meetings, our Offender 2 Recovery officers attended with clients and CGL to share their personal stories and they gave businesses ideas how they can improve on security and understand the background to those committing offences. Businesses have found this to be very insightful and interesting, as this scheme can support those offenders considered prolific to get the help but, this is not something that works overnight. This is can take months of work for the officers and CGL to support the individual to be involved in the programme.
