Scam alert

We will never ask you for money, bank details or passwords.

This is the simple message we need you to share with your friends and family after a person in North Norfolk fell victim to a scam this week, losing £35,000.

One of the scammers pretended to be a police officer from London and then fake crypto companies called the same victim and said they would try to get the money back.

In this case the victim gave the scammers his bank details but we have had previous cases where couriers turn up at the victim’s door after asking for cash, foreign currency or gift-cards to be made ready for them.

We know that those who are most vulnerable to this are often those who don’t have access to the internet or who are not so comfortable using it so please do share this message with anyone you think needs to know about it.

We will never mind you calling us on 101 to check the credentials of any officer you speak to and we know that banks are the same and are always happy if you hang up when they call and call the number on the back of your card.
