Commercial arrests

Good morning,

We just wanted to update you on two arrests that have occurred in the commercial district that have resulted in some prison sentences.

Joseph Corcoran was arrested and charged for multiple theft offences in the city and breach of his criminal behaviour order. Dut to his offending history, he was charged and sent to court where he was sentenced to 30 weeks in HMP. He has caused major issues for retailers in the City centre over the last several months. With some work done by the city centre commercial team they managed to track him down and get him arrested.

Ryan Bardsley was arrested after he was released from HMP last week due to a several outstanding jobs in the City, including 3 burglaries, 8 theft offences and an assault. Bardsley has been targeting numerous different stores and premises over the last couple months and had no remorse over his offending. He was charged and was sentenced to 11 months in HMP, he will serve a minimum 4 and half. Due to his offending, we were able to work closely with the anti-social behaviour action team and obtain a criminal behaviour order for him. So, upon his release there will still be an order in place with powers of arrest attached.

There are a number of prolific retail offenders we are still actively pursuing and are working closely with retailers and partners to deal with these people who actively offend in the City centre.
