Youth engagement

Good Morning Resident

On Friday it was such a beautiful day and due to the schools being closed for the holidays I thought I would patrol the local parks and see if any young children would like to see the police car.

I attended East Peckham park and had a few young people engage but it was fairly quiet. When I got to Offham parkā€¦. my luck came in! A pre-school childminder was out at the park with around 10 children and they all loved sitting in the police car, turning the lights on and having their photos taken to show their parents later. She told me I had made their day!

The park was so busy and in the end I think I spoke to over 30 children!!

It is so important for children to feel comfortable talking to the police and to know we are here to help them.

In the coming months I will try to do more park visits!!

Kind regards

Olivia
