Traffic Congestion - Iver High Street

Dear Thames Valley Alert subscribers,

The recipients of this message has been narrowed to those within The Ivers, but it can be shared with those who would find it relevant.

Some may be aware that Iver High Street suffered a period of “gridlock” around midday, today. This initially occurred due to an expectedly large funeral service at a local church, with complexities pertaining to the arrival of the funeral cortege.

The temporary congestion was then compounded by mourners, stuck in traffic and fearing they might miss the service, irrationally deciding to abandon their vehicles in the carriageway, on the High Street.

Local officers were already patrolling nearby, and deployed to respond to this spontaneous situation.

Whilst a challenging incident, which we sought to police with sensitivity, normality was restored as soon as was possible.

I thank the local community for their patience whilst this was achieved.

Kind Regards,
