Police: Priority Update - Rural Crime

Good afternoon Rutland,

Unfortunately, overnight we have seen a rural theft of a quadbike from inside a garage on a farm ๐Ÿšœ ๐ŸŒพ We have also been in touch with colleagues over the border in Lincolnshire and received information of similar rural theft incidents on their force area โ€ผ๏ธ

Rutland generally is county of low crime when compared to other counties in mainland UK, but we should all ensure that we donโ€™t take this for granted ๐Ÿค  Please help us to help you by following some of our crime prevention advice ๐Ÿ‘‡

Keep gates shut and pad locked ๐Ÿ”’
Keep machinery, vehicles, tools and valuables out of sight and locked up if possible ๐Ÿšœ
Consider using wheel clamps, steering wheel locks, hitch locks on trailers and alarms for added security ๐Ÿ”’
Consider installing or hiding GPS trackers in vehicles ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ
Consider installing motion activated security lights, CCTV cameras and proximity alarm systems ๐Ÿ”ฆ ๐ŸŽฅ
Mark your property with unique identifiers, this makes it harder for thieves to sell stolen items ๐Ÿ”
Keep a record of serial numbers, chassis numbers and VIN numbers โœ๏ธ
Report suspicious activity, if you see anything unusual or suspicious, or something out of place, report it immediately. If you believe a crime is in progress, phone 999. Your vigilance helps to prevent crime ๐Ÿšจ

Remember, together we can make our rural areas safer. Stay vigilant and don't hesitate to reach out to us for any concerns or advice ๐Ÿš“

Rural Crime is a priority on the Rutland Rural North beat, recent statistics would indicate that rural crime is also down 25% compared with last year. We have a brilliant Rural Policing Team who have been out and visited the victim of crime today and continue to have fantastic results recovering stolen property and returning it to rightful owners on a regular basis. But we need your help to be able to keep doing this and to help prevent it from happening in the first place ๐Ÿค

Thank you, stay safe! ๐Ÿšœ ๐Ÿš”

PC 1049 Jake Spruce ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
