An Ivor Williams 14ft flatback trailer was stolen from a field in the Stourton Caundle area between 12th - 15th April. This was valued at approx £4.5k As you are aware these are one of the biggest trailer/horse&cattle box firms in the UK. The popularity of these, and other, trailers inevitably means they can be a target of theft. If you acquire any new trailer there is a lot you can do to prevent its theft. Ivor Williams has good security advice on its webpage which we strongly recommend you follow. In particular the recording of details and serial numbers. Any new Ivor Williams trailer is registered with the National Plant & Equipment Register. For any trailer locking is essential where practical and ideally your trailer will be fitted with a coupling lock and wheel clamp to deter thieves. However, your trailer should be secured to the requirements that your insurance company specifies as not following their guidance may invalidate your policy. Please also consider where you store them overnight. It can be a pain having to take them back to the yard every time but this may be far more secure than field storage. Take care and have a great Easter.
