Crime Update


 

Dear Residents,

We hope you are all having a safe and enjoyable Easter. As always, your local policing team is committed to keeping you informed about crime trends and incidents in our community. Below is a summary of crime updates for the Penn and Merry Hill areas between 14th April 2025 – 20th April 2025.

 

Crime Overview – Merry Hill

During this period, two residential burglaries have been reported:

  • On 16th April 2025, between 10:45 and 13:28, a home on Glendale Close, Merry Hill was broken into.
  • On 20th April 2025, at 02:11, a home on Wenlock Avenue, Merry Hill was broken into. Following police intervention, two males responsible for the offence were arrested.
  • Crime Overview – Penn

  • On 16th April 2025, between 11:30 and 12:30, a theft from a motor vehicle occurred on Coalway Road, Penn. Offenders forcibly broke the tailgate handle  to gain access to the vehicle and stole tools.

    Positive Action – Tackling ASB

    On 19th April 2025, while out on patrol, officers seized a vehicle in Swanmore Close, Merry Hill that had no tax or insurance and was being used in an anti-social manner. Removing the vehicle from the streets has helped improve safety and reduce disruptive behaviour in the area.

     

    Police Actions & Community Safety

  • Increased patrols have been deployed in hot-spot areas to deter crime and reassure residents.
  • CCTV monitoring has been enhanced to identify offenders and prevent further incidents.
  • Crime prevention advice is being shared with businesses and homeowners to reduce risks.
