Incident Update

Following a report from Wales & West Utilities this afternoon, Tuesday 22nd April, Cirencester NPT have attended the Market Place, LECHLADE to carry out an emergency evacuation of the immediate area due to a large gas leak located in the area of the library.

Acting on advice from the Utilities company, who informed us that due to the scale of the leak there was a high risk of danger to properties and residents, road closures were put in place and residents displaced for 5 hours whilst emergency work was carried out to locate the cause of the leak and make the area safe for residents.

As of 2115hrs this evening, the leak has been located and the immediate road closures have been lifted.

We appreciate that these road closures would have caused disruption and inconvenience to local residents and businesses, so would like to extend our thanks to the local community for how understanding they were whilst we ensured the incident was resolved as quickly as we could.
