Dear Members The Met Police have recently rolled out ‘Facial Recognition Technology’ as a means of combatting crime and keeping our communities safe.
If you’d like to know more about how it works and whether it could or may impact you, you may find the attached explanatory notes useful.
https://youtu.be/oRGu_aK9TEo?si=WpB1cpxECLpRrj6o Separately, you may also be aware of increased police and council activity generally in your area. This is part of the police and council strategy to reduce crime and is in response to public disquiet over the high crime rate in the borough (other boroughs also). Your local Neighbourhood Watch has been quite active in highlighting crime hotspots and forwarding information about suspects to the local police and this has resulted in several arrests and planned operations.
More and more people are joining Neighbourhood Watch in Waltham Forest and we now number 722 members and 94 schemes across the borough.
If you are part of a street WhatsApp group, please encourage those members to join us.
Best Wishes,
James Phillips Scheme Administrator, Waltham Forest NW Network 07810 336641 HTTPS://ourwatch.org.uk |
