Witnesses sought after sexual assault, Uffculme

Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault on a female in Uffculme are appealing for two specific witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called around 3.40pm on Friday 18 April after a reported assault on a female by a man in Bridge Street.

An 18-year-old man from Tiverton has been arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault on a female and malicious communications. He has been released on bail until July pending further enquiries.

The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.

Detectives investigating the assault would like to hear from two boys who may have witnessed the incident or seen the victim.

They were cycling on the bridge or nearby footpath between 3.30pm and 3.45pm but had gone by the time officers arrived.

Detectives from Exeter CID would like to speak with them as they may hold vital information to assist with enquiries. They are also keen to hear from any other witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.
