We will never ask you for money, bank details or passwords. This is the simple message we need you to share with your friends and family after a person in Great Yarmouth was targeted by fraudsters yesterday. In this case, a scammer called and pretended to be a police officer from Norfolk Police’s fraud department, asking about personal details. Thankfully, the victim was aware it was a scam and refused to give any information over. We know that those who are most vulnerable to this are often those who don’t have access to the internet or who are not so comfortable using it so please do share this message with anyone you think needs to know about it. If you are unsure whether you are speaking to a fraudster or not, please hang up, wait five minutes and call us on 101 (ideally using a different phone) to check the credentials of any officer you speak to.
