I want to make you aware of the new SLT that are joining the BCU on 26 May 25, to be posted as follows:

CI Jamie Newman – HQ

CI Claire Penney – HQ

CI James Horsefield – Lambeth Neighbourhood Policing Team

CI Ashlee Gomes has been posted from HQ to another role outside of the BCU and I’m sure you’ll agree that Mr Gomes has done some great work across numerous strands and will be missed at AS.

CI Mark Gilchrist will move to Emergency Response Policing, once CI Natalie Binstead is posted to her off-BCU role.

I have received high praise from the Murder Investigation Team this week, in relation to the recent murder in Walworth. This includes great support from Emergency Response Team in relation to managing a significant and complex crime scene, proactive support from Local Investigations and Neighbourhood Policing Team providing significant community insights and engagement – thank you all.

The new BCU Blueprint is due to be signed off imminently and once I am able to, I will share this. A/Supt Emma Dickinson has been working really hard with me to try and reduce the impact that this will have on teams/staff. We have agreed not to make any further moves until final decisions have been made regarding posts. I do appreciate that many of you are feeling anxious about role changes and imminent unknown change, so please do speak to your Line Managers or SLT if you have any concerns.

In good news, we have significantly reduced our Outstanding Named Suspects BCU wide, which was commended this week by Deputy Assistant Commissioner Twist – thank you for all for your efforts with this. Our focus this month will be on our outstanding court warrants, so please do keep up this good work with Offender Management.

I am taking some pre-planned Leave from 02–11 May and 14-20 May and Detective Superintendent Vanessa Britton will be A/BCU Commander during this time.
