Suspects charged with conspiring to steal cars in west Kent

Good evening Resident,

Two suspected burglars have been charged in connection with a series of keyless car thefts in west Kent.

Kent Police was called at around 12.30am on Wednesday 23 April 2025 to a report of a burglary at a residential address near Brittains Lane, Sevenoaks.

It is alleged three men forced entry to the property and stole the keys for an Audi RS3. The suspects reportedly left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Following initial enquiries, Kent Police quickly identified a vehicle suspected to be involved with the incident. Colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service assisted in locating the vehicle near to Eltham and arrested two men.

The suspects were transferred to Kent Police custody and further arrested for their suspected involvement in a keyless car theft conspiracy across Kent and Met.

Charged

De-Voniaye Phillips, 20, of Stock Hill, Biggin Hill, Westerham, and Michael Philbert, 28, of Wharf Street, London, were later charged with conspiring to commit burglary and conspiring to steal motor vehicles.

The men appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 25 April and have since been remanded to custody pending a further hearing at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
