Public Safety Notice: Vehicle and Motorbike Theft Prevention
Good morning,
We want to make you aware of a recent increase in reports of theft from motor vehicles and theft of motorbikes, particularly in and around the city. Our officers are actively investigating these incidents, but we are also asking for your help in reducing opportunities for crime. Please take a moment to review the following safety tips:
For Vehicle Owners:Remove all valuables from your vehicle when unattended. Even small items in plain sight can attract thieves. Lock all doors and windows every time you leave your vehicle. Park in secure, well-lit areas, ideally where CCTV is in operation. Avoid leaving anything visible, even if you think it’s not valuable.
For Motorbike Owners:We’ve received reports of attempted thefts from public parking areas in the city centre. Use heavy-duty locks and immobilisers to secure your bike. Park in busy, well-monitored car parks with CCTV coverage whenever possible.
If you experience any theft or damage, please report it via 101 or through the Leicestershire Police website. If you witness a crime in progress or see someone acting suspiciously, call 999 immediately.
Thank you for your continued vigilance and support in keeping our community safe.
