Your new Chelmsley Wood town centre officers

As many of you may have heard, Neighbourhood Policing is undergoing a modernisation period. This means that every ward area now has a Designated Neighbourhood Officer who will work alongside a PCSO. We continue to work as your Local Neighbourhood Team. The designated officers are appointed to be your main point of contact and will lead any engagement events going forward.  

PC Chan SPOOR and PCSO Sherjil AHMED are dedicated Chelmsley Town Centre officers, some of you will have already seen us around. And if you haven’t, we look forward to meeting you all soon!  

Already this week, we have been out conducting high visibility patrols around the Town Centre whilst it is open.  

On Thursday 5th June, I have carried out a Violence Against Women and Girls campaign at North Solihull Sports Centre. During this I have spoken to a number of you around the issues women and girls may face whilst participating in sport. I am looking to learn about people’s experience (both male and female) in order to better understand how to ensure the safety of everyone when participating in sport.  

We are aware that recently there have been a number of reports of Anti-Social Behaviour around the Chelmsley Wood Bus Interchange involving youths causing damage to busses. We are working closely with security to swiftly collect CCTV of these incidents; we then will utilise our partnerships within the local schools to assist us in identifying the youths and looking to stop the problem.  

Additionally, we are aware of the prevalent shoplifting issue taking place within the town centre. To resolve this, we are working very close with security staff in the shop centre as well as shop staff encouraging them to report any occurrences of shop theft taking place in the shopping centre, as well as conducting hi-visibility patrols in the area to deter any shoplifters.
