Hot Weather Reminder: Don't Let Criminals Take Advantage!

Dear Resident

We've recently seen an increase in burglary reports across the area, many involving open or unlocked windows and doors, often left that way overnight due to the warm weather.

While we understand the need to stay cool, it's vital not to compromise your home’s security.

Here are some simple steps you can take to protect your property:

  • Close and lock all windows and doors before going to bed or leaving your home—even for a short time.
  • Use window restrictors that allow ventilation without allowing full access.
  • Install motion-activated lights or smart lighting around entry points to deter intruders.
  • CCTV or video doorbells can act as both deterrents and valuable evidence.
  • Check garden gates and sheds—ensure they are locked and tools are out of sight. These can be used to gain access to your home.
  • Be a good neighbour. If you see anything suspicious, report it to us immediately.
  • Let’s work together to keep our community safe.

If you have any concerns or would like crime prevention advice, please contact your local neighbourhood policing team.

📞 In an emergency, always call 999. For non-emergencies, call 101 or report online.

Stay safe and stay cool—without inviting crime in.
