PC George Clark Patrol |
||
If Met Engage is the future of Eastbrook and Rush Green, PC George Clark is very much its past.
Last Sunday (29th June) marked another year since the murder of PC George Clark during a routine night duty patrol back in 1846.
While the murder remains unsolved to this day, and with investigations revealing perjury and missed opportunities, it's believed George came across individuals in an act of theft and met a brutal end. George was set to check in with his sergeant at around midnight but never did. Tonight, Rick will finish the patrol that was fatally cut short, taking on some of the routes patrolled by the late PC Clark.
To mark the occasion, Rick completed a special night duty patrol across the ward, visiting every street over the course of 11.29 miles. Heading out just after midnight, Rick arrived safely back at Dagenham Police Station just before 4am, with coverage including the Parkside beat, the ward's northern sector of Alex Guy Gardens and Wisdons Close, along with Rush Green and the Eastbrookend Country Park.
And why not travel back to 1800s East London yourself and delve deeper into the mystery by grabbing a copy of 'The Dagenham Murder: The Brutal Killing of PC George Clark, 1846'...? | ||
