Chelmsley Wood Newsletter 2nd July 2025

Good Evening Resident

There are a few changes to the system for sending messages so fingers crossed this works, do let me know if the format doesn't work as we had issues with the pictures before, here goes.

Community Speedwatch

The Chelmsley Wood Officers are rebooting our scheme and would love you to join us.

Community Speedwatch is a national initiative where members of local communities, with the support and supervision of police officers, record details of speeding vehicles using approved detection devices.

Registered keepers of vehicles breaking the speed limit are contacted by letter explaining the potential risks and consequences of their dangerous behaviour.

Repeat offenders receive a visit from the local police and could face criminal prosecution.

If you fancy being involved in Community Speedwatch drop me a reply to this message and I will get in touch soon.

News from the Town Centre DNO’s

This week we have been informed that we have been granted a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for Chelmsley Wood. This allows the council to place certain conditions to assist us tackling Anti-Social Behaviour.

The conditions placed on Chelmsley Wood are as follows:

  • Prohibit people from riding, cycling or using an e-bike, e-scooter, motorbike or quadbike within the restricted area, unless they have a reasonable excuse.
  • Give the police the power to require groups of three or more people to leave the restricted area from 6pm – 6am if they’re suspected of anti-social behaviour
  • Give the police the power to require a person to remove a face covering if it hides their identity and they’re suspected of anti-social behaviour.
  • The restricted area is that in and around the Bus Interchange. Failure to comply with a PSPO is a criminal offence however over the next few months we will be working with the council to engage in education for all businesses and persons in the area to allow everyone to fully understand what the PSPO entails.

Also, this week officers have been working to ID youths that have been involved in Anti-Social Behaviour at McDonalds.

We have a Cuppa with a Coppa session booked at Lily’s Tea Parlour on 17th July 2025 between 12-2pm – feel free to pop down and meet the designated officers.

We look forward to welcoming you to our 2025 Open Day

It has been a bit cooler this evening for our Streetwatch Patrol but the weather is still very warm so stay safe and remember to secure your properties.

    Until next time.
