Baton Down the Hatches: Piccadilly Gardens Patrols |
||
The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team were on duty today, continuing their proactive work to keep the city centre safe.
In the early hours of the morning, officers dealt with a male who had been arrested overnight on Back Piccadilly in possession of a police-style baton. Following enquiries, he has now been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, along with two historic offences relating to begging and public order.
Throughout today’s patrols, officers have also made further progress in addressing crime and anti-social behaviour. Three more individuals were arrested for a range of offences, including public order offences, begging, and failing to appear at court.
The team’s visible presence is part of ongoing efforts to reassure the community, tackle repeat offending, and maintain public safety in one of Manchester’s busiest areas.
PC Duffy, from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “When we’re out on patrol, we see first-hand the impact that anti-social behaviour and crime can have on people visiting and working in the city centre. Arresting offenders and dealing with issues like begging and public order is a big part of making the area safer and more welcoming. It’s good to know that the work we do day-to-day is making a real difference for the community.”
Police have urged members of the public to continue reporting crime and suspicious behaviour to help support ongoing efforts to keep the city centre safe.
