Theft from Motor Vehicle High Street

Dear Resident

Between 2215 and 2230 03/11 a theft from motor vehicle occurred in High Street Old town

Between the material times, the offender stole a petrol saw from the work van of M&S Water services who were completing road works at the bottom of Hemel Hempstead old Town High Street. The workers noticed people acting suspiciously in the area. They then noticed that their Petrol saw was missing from their work van.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
