Neighbourhood officers from the Bury Town Centre Team attended the annual Boxing competition at Bury Defence Academy, Lord St., Bury. Chairman and manager of BDA, Ifti Ahmed, works closely with Greater Manchester Police and the local schools and offers a number of memberships to the gym for GMP referrals of children that may be making the wrong decisions in life and give them something worthwhile to focus on, taking them off the streets and directing them away from gang culture. On Saturday 8th November they hosted an Interclub Boxing event for young people. A number of Junior Boxers from BDA participated in bouts against other clubs. This is an annual event and was a great success as usual, seeing approximately 100 people attending. Every one was a winner and all participants received a medal for competing.
