National Road Safety Week 2025 - Safe Vehicles Save Lives |
||
|
We’re proud to support Road Safety Week 2025, an annual campaign led by Brake, the road safety charity. Every year, thousands of communities, schools and organisations come together to shout out for safer roads where they live and work.
Why road safety week matters Five people die on UK roads every day In 2024, 1,671 people lost their lives and 28,804 suffered serious, life-changing injuries on UK roads
In 2025, Brake is putting vehicle safety at the heart of the campaign. The goal is to help everyone understand how safe vehicles can prevent crashes and protect people if a crash does happen. Whether you're a driver, cyclist, pedestrian or passenger, vehicle safety affects us all. From advanced braking systems to proper maintenance, every choice matters.
Our winter driving tips: As flash flooding and freezing temperatures become more common, it’s important to be prepared. Here are our top tips for staying safe on the roads this winter: Check your heating system to ensure you can demist windows quickly Clear your windows, lights and number plates before setting off. Keep a de-icer and scraper in your car at all times Drive slowly and carefully in ice, snow, mist and rain. Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey Use rear fog lights and reduce speed when visibility is low Keep your distance – stopping distances can be up to 10 times longer in wet or icy conditions Avoid where possible, exposed areas like bridges and overpasses which freeze faster than other surfaces Take extra care around motorcyclists and cyclists on windy days – large vehicles can waver
We’re proud to stand with Brake and thousands of others across the UK to make our roads safer. Share your support, spread the message, and help us make a difference. Learn more at brake.org.uk
