How Police Are Tackling Knife Crime in Our Community |
||
|
Your local police remain firmly committed to reducing knife crime and keeping young people safe. As part of this work, we regularly deliver educational presentations in schools and community settings to raise awareness of the risks, consequences, and realities of carrying a knife.
A key part of our approach is Operation Sceptre, a national initiative aimed at tackling knife crime through prevention, engagement, and enforcement. During Op Sceptre activity, officers carry out targeted patrols, weapon sweeps, test-purchase operations, and community engagement events. The focus is always on safeguarding young people, providing education, and working with partners to address the root causes of knife-related offending.
Education is central to this effort. This week alone, our officers have delivered presentations to over 400 students in Helston, discussing the dangers of knife carrying, the law, and the long-term impact that one decision can have on individuals, families, and communities. These sessions also empower young people to make positive choices and to speak up if they have concerns about the safety of themselves or others.
We will continue to work closely with local schools, parents, and community groups to ensure that young people receive accurate information and the support they need. By working together, we can help prevent knife crime and keep our community safe.
If you have concerns or would like further information about our knife crime prevention work, please contact your local neighbourhood policing team.
