Good Afternoon Resident
At this time of year we would like to remind Residents of the Island to be vigilant against Criminals who take advantage of people who may have extra items in their house in readiness for Christmas Gifting. Organised Criminal Gangs will target insecure properties so ensure when you leave your house that all windows and doors are shut and locked. Consider utilising security measures such as Video Doorbells and CCTV as well as being vigilant with neighbouring properties. If there is a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme local to you then the can also provide additional support. Please also be weary of uninvited doorstep callers. If someone knocks on your door to advise you of work that needs doing please be wary that it is a common used tactic to defraud people out of money or commit a distraction burglary. Always ask to see Identification of doorstep callers and where possible verify the information. If you believe work does need doing, always get a 2nd or 3rd opinion form different companies.
