Stowmarket sexual assault – update on arrest |

A man arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault that occurred in Stowmarket last week has been released without charge.
The attack took place between 5.45am and 6am on Wednesday 19 November along a path off Iliffe Way.
A woman aged in her 30s reported that she was out running when she was approached by an unknown man who pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
On Sunday 23 November, police arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning but has now been eliminated from the inquiry and will face no further police action.
The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers and she has been assisting detectives with their enquiries.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build and was wearing a dark woolly beanie hat. He also wore a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and is reported to have smelled strongly of cigarettes and cannabis.
