Lonsdale Road


We are looking for a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for Lonsdale Road.

The role includes finding 5 members in your road and you can cover part or all of the road with your scheme. You run your scheme in the way that suits you and your members. You will get free window stickers and road sign, discounts and direct contact with your neighbourhood policing team.

NW Coordinators communicate information with their members via email, whats app, telephone or personal contact. Coordinators are happy to be the first point of contact for their scheme should the Police require to make contact. 

Being a Coordinator and/or NW member really does take little time can make a big difference - and it is all FREE!

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Summertown, Oxford.

The incident occurred at around 4.50pm on Monday (22/4) at the junction of Portland Road and Lonsdale Road.

A group of four male offenders approached the victim, a boy in his teens, and took him to an alleyway where they threatened him with a knife and demanded he hand over his trainers.

The victim managed to escape and entered a taxi on Lonsdale Road.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Michael Lewis, based at Oxford police station, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to this attempted robbery, or anyone with information which could help our investigation, to please come forward.

“I would like to appeal specifically to the taxi driver who drove the victim away from the scene and towards South Parade to come forward.

Updated: Two 14-year-old boys, a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, all from Oxford have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. They have been bailed.
