Riverside Beat Priority Update

Good evening,

Please see the following on this quarters beat priorities for the Riverside Beat for the month of April.

Cycle Thefts at DMU:

This month, officers have been engaging with the DMU and our university liaison officer to increase patrols and conduct CCTV enquiries relating to offences. Bike registers have been conducted by PCSO’s to increase security of cycles. Live incidents have been attended by officers to help prevent crime and identify offenders in a timely manner.

Drug Issues (Specifically around Castle Gardens):

The beat team have increased patrols around key locations including Castle Gardens. This has resulted in numerous people being stop searched and found in possession of controlled substances. PC Clark and PC Lee also apprehended a young male who attempted to evade them and arrested him for possession of Class A with intent to supply.

Theft Offences:

This month, theft from motor vehicles has decreased thanks to work from the beat team, increasing patrols in public car parks and congested streets. Officers have been liaising with local shops again where a spike of shop thefts occurred, but quick time CCTV enquiries identified an offender of stealing a lot of high value alcohol. Businesses are being encouraged to remain vigilant and report to police when this happens. Positive results at court this month have also resulted in offenders being sentenced to HMP.

If you have any issues you want to raise to the beat team, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
