Man arrested in connection with Class A drugs supply in New Milton

We have arrested a man in connection with drug related offences following a police pursuit in New Milton last week.

On Friday (23 August) patrolling officers spotted a vehicle travelling along Old Milton Road which was registered as having no insurance. The driver of the vehicle was pursued by police and an item was dropped from the car, before it came to a stop on Gore Road.

Police located the item, which was revealed to be suspected Class A drugs. The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man from New Milton, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance. The car was also seized.

Officers searched a New Milton address linked to the man and located further Class A drugs, as well as Class B drugs and drug paraphernalia.

While at the address an officer was assaulted by a second man, who is in his 50s and from New Milton. He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and has been released from police custody but remains under investigation while our enquiries continue.

The 35-year-old man has been released on conditional police bail to allow for further investigation to take place.

These arrests form part of our wider work to disrupt the supply of drugs across the New Forest.
