G'day Mate

Neighbourhood Policing brings a many of surprises, sighting a wild Wallaby in Cheadle, was one of them!

A number of reports were made by the public on Tuesday 27th August that a Wallaby had been spotted hopping around wild and free. Social media also blew up with posts about various sightings across the town.

No Missing Wallaby's had been reported missing, we checked with Peak Wildlife, who said all of theirs were accounted for.  In all honesty I thought it could well be a hoax, but I went to investigate.

Sure enough some members of the public supported by a crew from Oakley's Farm Nr Dilhorn, had managed to track the animal down and were trying to capture it near some woodland, off Park Drive in Cheadle.

Just as I arrived and with some great teamwork the crew managed to safely capture the exhausted animal and place it safely into an animal transportation box.

Thank you to Tom, Oakley and the rest of the good folk that helped to secure and care for the terrified animal.

Special thanks to Oakley's Farm, who are offering a safe home and medical attention to the animal.

I've had an update today that a vet has visited and all looks good, Mr/Miss Hoppy has settled down, is calm and looking well. Oakley's will be looking after the creature until an owner comes forward.

If you have any information about where the Wallaby has come from, please do be in touch.
