Youth drop In on Fairfield

Buxton Police SNT @BuxtonSNT

Linda Cook 19 Sep 202418:40

Well, what a great evening it was for our first Youth drop in at the Project Unity office, Victoria Park Road, Fairfield tonight.

We had approximately 15 young people pop in tonight to chat to us, have a drink, packet of crisps and tell us what is good and what is not about where they live and play.. We were also lucky enough to be visited by the experienced team from Children's Services, based at the Centre on Victoria park road who also engaged with the young people.

The evening was the first of our Youth related drop in sessions run in conjunction with youth workers from BLEND, who are on hand to listen to what the young people think of their communities and it has been made possible by funding from Project Unity, the campaign to tackle serious and organised crime in Buxton. This will assist the local neighbourhood team for Fairfield to set their priorities for the area using the voice of the youth to highlight issues they feel strongly about.

The team from Blend will be on Fairfield on Thursdays between 4 - 6 pm and when possible will run the youth drop in at the Project Unity office.

The Project Unity office will be open for the public to call in at different times, depending on availability and we are hoping to utilise the building for further engagement in Fairfield.

Keep a look out for events, especially during October when we are having a month of engagement including partner agency work.
