PERSUING OFFICERS RECOVER BENTLEY STOLEN FROM DRIVEWAY - SEVENOAKS

PERSUING OFFICERS RECOVER BENTLEY STOLEN FROM DRIVEWAY

Two suspects linked to car thefts across west Kent have been arrested by patrols near Bluewater and in Sevenoaks.

The men were detained in connection with separate incidents which included the alleged theft of a Bentley Bentayga.

The high value SUV was reported stolen shortly after 2.30am on Wednesday 2 October 2024, from an address near Snodland.

Within 30 minutes it was tracked down by patrols to the A2 and followed with blue lights until it stopped on Darenth Wood Road.

Jamming devices and further arrest

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of suspected signal jamming devices.

A 54-year-old man from east London was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

At around 11pm the previous evening, proactive patrols in Sevenoaks also arrested a man, who was linked to suspicious activity in a Ford Transit.

Officers instructed the van to stop, and it came to a halt in Lea Road.

When it was searched a suspected door opening device was seized, along with several vehicle keys, car ignition parts, more than £400 in cash and a sling shot.

The driver, aged 34 and from Sevenoaks, was taken into custody on suspicion of going equipped to steal and drug driving offences. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Advice for vehicle owners

  • Keep keys and ignition fobs out of sight and reach, and never leave them inside an unattended vehicle.

  • When at home, keep keys and fobs well away from windows or doors and ensure a criminal could not reach through your letterbox to steal them.

  • Store keyless fobs in a security pouch (also known as Faraday bags and signal blockers/shields). These will prevent the signal from your vehicle from being captured using electronic devices.

  • Some types of key fobs can be switched to disabled, so check your vehicle manual or ask your dealer for advice.

  • Install a tracker on your car.

  • Consider installing a CCTV or doorbell camera that covers the area where your car is usually parked.

  •

    Many thanks,
