Good Evening Everyone, 

Your Fratton, Baffins and Nelson Beat Officers have been on duty this weekend. As part of our role, we take the opportunity to review incidents which have been reported across our beat areas and, unfortunately have seen a recent increase in Vehicle crime across the beats. The majority of these thefts appear to have been opportunistic, with persons trying car door handles hoping to find an unlocked car. Once inside, they are searching vehicles for valuable items or cash before making off. 

We would like to take this opportunity to remind residents of the following: 

While the majority of the thefts we see, occur during the hours of darkness, we have seen a small number of reports during the day time. Vehicles are being targeted no matter where they are parked, be it parked in a driveway, on the street or in a public car park. 

Another really good way to keep your valuable safe is to register them on The National Property Register, for Phones, Gadgets, Bicycles & More... (immobilise.com) which is free to use. It allows you to register all of your valuable items, meaning if they are stolen and then later recovered by the police, we can return them easily to you. 

We’re only able to identify crime trends by the reports that you make to us. You can do this easily by reporting online Report a crime | Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary or via 101. If it’s an emergency, please call 999.

As your local officers, we cannot take reports of crime directly but we welcome information about crime happening in your area as this may highlight areas for us to target. Please feel free to contact your local officer with your concerns as below:
