Proactive Drugs Operation |
||
|
On Friday 29th and Saturday 29th October Tavistock Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by staff from Police Operations and Licencing and Police Dog Jasper to conduct Operation PAD (Pubs Against Drugs) in Tavistock, Yelverton, Bere Alston and Horrabridge. This is a proactive operation used across the force to disrupt the use of recreational drugs in licenced premises. The purpose of this unannounced activity is to deter those using, carrying or supplying drugs on a night out and educating members of the public on the legal and personal consequences of drug use. In total 12 premises were visited and a total of 21 individuals were stopped and searched. We are aware of some misinformation about these encounters is being spread on social media that individuals were being strip searched in public which is entirely inaccurate. As well as engaging with the public, drugs wipes were conducted in licenced premises to detect the presence of controlled drugs on surfaces and Licencing officers checked landlords were complying with their licencing conditions. If you have information about drug supply in your community please report it at Report | Devon & Cornwall Police | ||
